Commissioned by Contemporary And for their Latin America edition.

holding death close is a collection of four audiovisual pieces taking shape as a video game playthrough. Inspired by the non-linear temporality permeating video games, their narrative codes and tropes, the series reflects on themes surrounding death and identity as seen through the lens of an unreliable main character. We follow this character as they attempt to fulfil their quest in search of their memories, past and Mother, treading through dream-like spaces clouded by loss and uncertainty. Their journey is slowly constructed by the various choices presented throughout the work - however, unlike the interactive nature of video games where the player decides the course of their actions, we are devoid of any agency and are left to watch as the main character chooses their own path.
